How can a platform for ordering textbooks be so bad?
I’m looking at ordering textbooks for the kids for next year, and the Campion ordering platform is a wonderful example of an awful user experience.
Let’s start with the onboarding. You’re prompted to start with your child’s email address. Easy enough, except that when you enter it, you are prompted to select their books. And from there, there is no way to add in a second child.
Instead you have to cancel your order, go back and add a second child to your account from there.
But even that’s not enough. Then when you start again, you need to select the grade for both children before you start the order. If you only choose one, you will have to cancel the whole thing again. The system knows what grade each child is in – it doesn’t show the grade beyond next year’s grade in the options (though weirdly does show previous years.)
And instead of getting a book list, I got an email saying mandatory texts would be preloaded to my account and can’t be removed. That was fine for the first kid, but for the second kid nothing was pre-loaded. Does that mean I don’t need to order any textbooks?
(No, it just means it’s a crap platform).
