About

I started this blog at a time in my life I was struggling. I was in my early 40s, work wasn’t fulfilling me and I was stressed about everything.

It’s been about four years, and few things have changed. I’m closer to 50 than 40, which is something.

I still struggle sometimes. I decided to try and launch a product reviews website right before the dawn of AI and Google killing its product with crappy AI. I love it, but it’s not achieving the level of success I dreamt it would. Which means I have to supplement my income with freelance work that doesn’t really scratch the itch.

I want this blog to be my digital home. I want it to capture my fleeting thoughts, my stray photos and my deeper ruminations.

But work is a big part of me, so it’s connected to BTTR and what I do over there too.

Who am I, exactly?

Funnily enough, I find that question really difficult to answer, and hope to find some clarity by reflecting on it on this blog.

What I can confidently say is that my name is Nick Broughall, and I am a 40-something-year-old man with two incredible children and an amazing wife.

I have spent the past 20+ years building a solid career out of writing, editing and publishing, initially in print, but now almost exclusively online.

Things I’m learning about myself at the moment include that I enjoy board games, that I don’t read anywhere near enough, and that I probably need to exercise a lot more.

I have a bunch of author pages around the Australian technology scene, so if you’re looking to read something a bit more professional than my random ramblings here, you can follow any of the following links (though some of them are pretty old):
