Thoughts From The Big Day Out 2009
Yesterday Lauren and I headed over to the Big Day Out, courtesy of HP (who had a stand at the event). The only way to describe the experience come from the immortal words of Danny Glover: “I’m getting too old for this shit”.
For a start, it was bloody hot. Even though I had sunscreen on every conceivable part of exposed skin, it seems that wasn’t enough - my scalp feels well and truly sunburnt… I guess my hair is thinning faster than Amazonian rainforest at the moment.
Secondly, the event is clearly for young people. I reckon that at 29, I dragged up the average age something shocking. Not only that, but 90% of the people there were relatively attractive, a surprisingly high percentage had tattoos, and an equally high number for completely off their nut.
We ended up leaving after a few hours - I’d been sick the night before and Lauren was feeling ill from the heat, but we both left Homebush thinking the same thing: this so isn’t our scene.
On the upside, we did get to see Birds of Tokyo again, and they rocked.
