The latest batch of homebrew (a Bock) has been bottled, and is now waiting for that magical process of secondary fermentation to take place, giving it the bubbles that make beer so enjoyable.

But among the success of this batch of beer is tragic news that the local home brew store (Jay’s homebrew in Camden) is closing down. Now what am I supposed to do?

While I can pick up a Coopers or Tooheys kit from Coles or Woolworths, it’s the premium sugar and yeasts that you really need a homebrew store for. And when I eventually get some funds to set up a keg system for sweet home-made beer on tap, well then I think I’ll need to find another homebrew store for that as well.

The store closes in September, so I should at least be able to pick up another batch before then. Still, considering I’d only recently discovered the store, this is a bit of sad news.
