  • Today I sanded the walls in 2/3rds of the house, including a couple of walls that had been painted with a texture paint. Then I had a beer. This beer. It barely touched the sides, but what I did taste was very good.

  • Fresh carpet for the kids rooms. Before and after shots left to right. Looks soooo much better now!

  • The first sip of tonight’s beer left me feeling a little underwhelmed, like a fine mist of water sprayed on my face when what I really wanted was to dunk my head in a pool. But a few more mouthfuls and I was sold, and the rest disappeared before I knew what was happening. Fresh and crisp and tasty.

  • I wasn’t overly fond of tonight’s beer. Felt maybe a tad over carbonated?

  • Yet another pale ale, but this one was amazing. Hints of orange, with a really gentle taste. Wish I had another one.

  • The workers made a lot of noise today. First there was the grinding. Then there was the sawing. Then there was the hammering. Then there was more of all the above. But, I think they’re pretty well placed to lay the vinyl floor planks tomorrow!

  • And back on the pale ales… tonight’s was zesty and fresh, with a real hint of honey, but it didn’t compare to last night’s hazelnut brown. (I love my dark beers!)

  • Bye bye tiles. Vinyl floors are incoming… tomorrow or the next day.

  • Finally, FINALLY! A dark beer appears in my early-birthday-advent-calendar beer case. And man, this drop was incredible. I love dark beers for their complex flavours at the best of times, but the hazelnut in this bottle was amazing. Will be chasing down a case of this after Christmas for sure.

  • Bye bye hideous brown carpet. Hello dirty concrete slab. Floor Reno has started, albeit slowly - levelling tomorrow, floorboards start Wednesday. Can’t wait!!

  • Another hard day moving furniture and I am honestly devastated that I don’t have another one of these brews to gently pass across my tongue. Recommended.

  • After a hard day moving furniture, today’s beer 🍺 was 👌. Nothing fancy, just another pale ale, but boy it went down easy.

  • Its been a while since the last #bathroomreno update, largely because the stonemason cut the benchtops the wrong size… twice 😡! The good news is that we are almost done! Shower screens and taps are in, just a bit of waterproofing to do in the bathroom and laundry, plus a couple of handles to put on cupboards. Just as well, because the new #floorboards start going in on Monday!!

  • Day 8’s beer was pretty good. Not as punchy as the label, but pretty solid. I am hoping for a bit more than pale ales in this advent calendar case though…

  • With a nice citrus touch, day 7’s beer 🍺 is remarkably easy to swallow. Has a really nice aftertaste too, which I find a bit uncommon for pale ales.

  • Today’s beer 🍺 is pure, unadulterated hoppiness. Not a typo - this one bounces with hops. It’s not overly quaffable, but there’s definitely a distinctive flavour that’s enjoyable, if maybe a little strong.

  • The photo of today’s beer came out blurry. I was going to go and take another shot of the empty bottle, but the truth is that I was a little underwhelmed by the bottle’s contents. It was a perfectly serviceable lager, but nothing to get excited about - much like this blurry photo.

  • Day 4 is probably my favourite beer of the early-birthday-advent-case so far 🍺. Really dry and malty, but fragrant too. Would recommend.

  • Day 3’s brew is a fine tasting Golden ale, with plenty of citrus smells and flavour. Would drink again.

  • How good was her Star Wars cake today?
