The past few weeks have been a lot. This week arguably the hardest.

I want to spend a bit of time catching up - I have so much to talk about. My work trip to China, the new Spider-Man movie, my mother-in-law selling her house.

The loss of my beautiful friend Jen.

I’m going to make time to write about it all. But right now, everything feels a bit too much.

Finished reading: The Friend of the Family by Dean Koontz 📚- I used to read a lot of Koontz in my teenage years. This didn’t grip me as much, but was still an easy enough read to be enjoyable.

Went and saw The Odyssey in 4DX today.

Absolutely spectacular film. Just a stunning, moving, thrilling piece of art. The 4DX was a bit of fun, but arguably a bit too much for the experience. 🎬

There must be some scientific explanation why I can complete Good Sudoku+ every day for 300 and something days, keeping the streak alive, but then forget to play one day as I approach the 365 day mark.

A fun start to the day: doing my weekly reporting for BTTR and discovered a site that has ripped off my entire site - all 1500 articles. It’s a complete copy - even includes my analytics tracking.

Normally when I watch a World Cup match that doesn’t include Australia, I don’t pick a side. I just enjoy watching the football.

But I enjoyed cheering on Belgium to beat the USA today. It was a thoroughly deserved victory. ⚽️

Managed to crawl out of bed at 4 to watch the Socceroos this morning. Obviously disappointed to get kicked out of the World Cup today, but it has been great to see the team grow. There’s so much potential - they just need to hunt the back of the net more aggressively. ⚽️

My daughter has been playing through the Final Fantasy VII remakes. She loves them.

I’ve been dying for her to get to the date with Aerith at the Gold Saucer in Rebirth.

Today she got to that scene, but she went out with Tifa instead! I was so disappointed for her.

Obviously disappointed by the Socceroos loss to the USA this morning. I really wish our performance wasn’t a tale of two halves though - for some reason this squad so often comes out meek in the first half, then fires up in the second. ⚽️

I cannot understand why anyone would willingly choose to use the Divi editor in Wordpress. It’s such a convoluted mess of a user interface. Makes doing even the simplest thing three steps harder than it should be.

Finished reading Mistborn Wax & Wayne The Complete Series by Brandon Sanderson last night. Really enjoyed it, though I’m still not 100% certain with what is happening with the greater Cosmere lore after that last book. Was a sudden, massive expansion I wasn’t really ready for. 📚

Watching the Socceroos beat Turkey today was maybe a little too stressful for my liking. But it was so good to watch a solid strategy bear fruit.

Also Irankunda is just fantastic to watch. His goal was great, but the touch to get past two defenders? Amazing. ⚽️

I’m in Singapore for a work trip for the first time – I’ve only ever stopped over here before. I was shocked that my passport didn’t get stamped.

Just a quick scan, a thumb print, and I was out the door.

Makes me sad to think that my kids may not be able to look through old passports to see where they have been, as everything becomes digital…

Disappointing to watch the Matildas go down 0-1 to Mexico in extra time after dominating most of the match. They seemed to try to push a final pass too often instead of having a crack.

Hopefully they’ll bounce back on Tuesday. ⚽️

I was surprised when I finished Bands of Mourning that the epilogue told me I needed to pick up a flashback book. I did enjoy going back to the original trilogy’s time period, even if the story was a bit rough around the edges.
