@monday this subject is basically what I’ve dubbed my mid-life crisis, so I feel I should weigh in here!

For single player experience, I enjoy Living Card Games (LCG) I’m fond of Lord of the Rings, but also have a huge collection of Marvel Champions too. Both are gorgeous.

For the family, I would say Ark Nova is perfect. Stunning board, huge depth and not too hard for kids.

The Star Wars geek in me suggests Outer Rim, which even my 13 year old enjoys playing (and we have to fight to get him to play).

I would also suggest avoiding any of the ‘Rising’ games. They look great, but are impossibly hard. I’ve never won, and it really puts you off.
