BTTR Weekly update 7 March
I’m definitely running late on publishing the weekly update this week. It’s been a crazy few days, including my daughter getting prepped for high school and a realisation of a major challenge with the site’s setup that I’ll detail in another post. As for last week… well, it was okay. I got thrown … read more

Unbelievably, my baby girl is having her high school taster day today.
Where did the last decade go?

Hogwarts Battle destroyed me this weekend
I hate losing. This weekend, my wife and I played the Hogwarts Battle board game, with the Monster Box of Monsters expansion. It had been a while since we last played, but I’ve been tracking our board game plays over the past year so I set us up to work through the second box of the expansion. We … read more

I really enjoyed the return of Mando this week. Grogu was superb, and there are plenty of threads for the show to explore this season.
But Bad Batch this week was even better. Real horror movie vibes in an episode that picked up an old Clone Wars story that seemingly went nowhere. Can’t wait to see where the rest of the season goes from here!

Now that the old barbecue is toast, I’ve had to pull out the Weber Q from retirement and… it cooks like a dream.

I am really going to miss this TV when it gets collected.

BTTR weekly update 27 Feb
I hit a big milestone this past week on BTTR. For the first time, Search Console is telling me that it has indexed more pages than not. Given you can’t get traffic from search to a page that Google hasn’t indexed, this is a pretty big deal. There are still more than 500 pages (mostly index pages) … read more

I’ll see that Quimby boy hang for this!
What a morning. Today I did my civic duty reporting in for Jury Duty. That meant I sat around for hours waiting for the panels to be called so they could select the jury. Just as they sat us in the courtroom to decide the jury, the fire alarm went off. After evacuating to the park, hanging around … read more

I really enjoyed this. I thought Jonathan Majors was excellent as Kang, and am really keen to see what he brings in the rest of the MCU.
It did have the odd pacing issue, and Bill Murray was wasted here, but overall, it was an enjoyable experience, and much better than I expected.

Not as good as the first one, but still a bit of fun. Love the 4th wall moments too.
Third movie is inevitable. Will definitely watch it when it comes out.

I am absolutely, 100% earwormed by every track on the new Paramore album. The only way I can get one song out of my head is by mentally singing another song from the album. It’s great. 🎵

BTTR Weekly update
BTTR enjoyed its second record traffic week in a row last week. Over 600 pageviews for the week, which is still nowhere near where I want it to be, but also pretty good for how young the site is. The downside was that there was almost no revenue. Obviously, that’s to be expected some days, but I’d … read more

Played against Lauren while the kids played video games. Ended up getting lots of spells that forced her to discard cards from her hand, so she couldn’t get enough tokens to gain new cards. Her defeat came quickly, in the end.

I never really loved Cars like I did the earlier Pixar movies. The movie is fine — it’s a good story, well acted, and looks pretty spectacular in 4K. But I still just don’t really love it.

First play through of Goonies: Never Say Die today.
I played as Goondocks Master, Lauren, and Kara played as Goonies; Mikey and Data respectively.
Made a few mistakes, like I didn’t put out enough enemies in the early stages. But was still enough of a challenge for us all as we got used to the game.
A lot of fun, though! Looking forward to some different adventures.

Nothing quite starts arguments in this house like trying to play 4 player Overcooked.

This morning has been a roller coaster of affiliate network approvals, rejections, technical challenges and implementations.
Don’t even get me started on the tax forms. Ugh.

Woke up at 4:30 this morning with a blocked nose and a pounding headache. Panadol helped, but I do not expect to be overly productive today.

Last week was a pretty good week for BTTR with a couple of good milestones achieved.
Over 500 pageviews in the week, an obvious record for me given the site is so new. Also managed to achieve my first $100 in revenue.
There is still a really long way to go, but it’s good to hit some milestones to help you stay inspired.
Last week’s highlights
- These are Australia’s best robot vacuum cleaners
- The list of best phones in Australia got an update for February. I expect big changes next month as the Galaxy S23 Ultra starts appearing in more best guides.
- Similarly, the best Android phones got an update. No real movements though.
- I looked into the best earphones in Australia and was somewhat surprised that they were all true wireless.
- If you’ve been looking for a 2-in-1 laptop, then these are some of the best in Australia
- I also reviewed the Ecovacs Deebot X1 Plus. Side note - my house has rarely been cleaner.
Deal alert
- Spend $100 on Lego, get a $10 Amazon gift card. Given I spend five times that (at least) for the kids at Christmas, it’s a good chance to get in early and get a little something for myself

Played The Hobbit: An unexpected party with the whole family today. It obviously took longer with 4 players, but it was just as enjoyable.
