on awards
Yesterday when this news was announced I was feeling a bit down, and couldn’t bring myself to celebrate it.
But I’m feeling a bit better today, and I am stoked to be a finalist for three individual awards at the 2025 IT Journo Awards. Plus, BTTR is up for the Best Independent Media award too.
It’s all self-nominated, so there is a small amount of hubris that goes into these things. But where last year I only nominated for Best technology reviewer, this year I applied for everything I could.
So the fact I’m a finalist for Best Telecommunications Journalist and Best Short Form Content, but not Best Consumer Technology Journalist or Best News Journalist or whatever else I nominated for means that there is some level of filtering to become a finalist.
Realistically, I don’t believe I really stand a chance of winning in any category – 2024 was a rough year, and while I’m proud of what I accomplished last year, I feel all the distractions would have had a big impact on the overall quality of my work.
But it’s still reassuring to be a finalist for these categories, among such esteemed journalists and writers and publications.
